When I made this custom on Friday, I mentioned that I still thought the colours were a bit off and this was noticeable in the green of the Hartford sweater.
I found that all the Whalers images in that set were very, very yellow, so I went back to my source image again and played with the colour balance.
I think the result is a better match, though the graininess of the 1980-81 print process is a really difficult thing to emulate.
Fantastic! I loved the last two posts and I think it is great you are playing around with customs. Any chance you might try and print them?
You know, it never really occurred to me. How are people printing them?
When I make a custom Topps or OPC card, I usually print them at a local drug store. I can fit two cards on a 4″ x 6″ photo, then I use a Fiskas-brand paper cutter to cut them out straight.
I’ve also used a company called My Hockey Trading Cards, but only for original stuff and not, ahem, licensed cards 🙂
